Yes there is no doubt that U4d has been in Europe since at least the Mesolithic.

My maternal haplogroup is U4d1. I don't have any "matches" on FTDNA for this maternal line. I've seen a map that shows ancient origins but is there any information on the dispersion of this group in the last 500 years or so?

My oldest known maternal line ancestor is Maria Pauls--probably of Dutch stock but born in the Ukraine 1828 and died in the US 1904. Her mother is listed on Mennonite websites as Charlotte Doering (m Cornelius Pauls). This group of Mennonites lived in the Netherlands/ Belgium area until the 16th century when they migrated to the Vistula valley near Danzig in what was then Prussia. They migrated to the Ukraine (then South Russia) in the late 18th century and to the US in the late 19th century.

my dad has haplogroup U4d2. He is from Russia, Kostroma region. He has many matches from Sweden.
