FTDNA now offers an individual SNP test for S2639. S2639 (http://yfull.com/tree/I-S2639/)is the first level downstream from L161 ("Isles"), upstream from L1498. Thus, the S2639 is appropriate for anyone who has tested L161+ L1498- .

Well it looks like you are trying to reinvent the wheel .Could you explain which part of L161 you are trying to test . Isles ABC or D . More clarity is needed ,

Those labels don't apply here. We are referring to the earliest offshoot of I-L161, which diverged before any of the well-known clades existed as such. Please examine YFull's haplotree for I-L161 (http://yfull.com/tree/I-L161.1/). Notice that the Polish I-Y13330 diverged from the rest 6800 years ago, before the occurrence of S639. So far, all other Big Y examples are S2639+ . But I repeat: Anyone who is L161+ L1498- is encouraged to test S2639.
