Lupus and genetic make up...

I'm curious to know if anyone else has lupus and if so, is theirs hereditary or a gene mutation?

I didn't get diagnosed until I was in my early 30's and I don't know if anyone else in my family suffers from it. My father had a lot of the same symptoms that I do but he was never diagnosed with it. It would seem that mine is a result of a gene mutation but I don't know for sure.

Heredity has both a genetic and environmental component to it. Conditions like Lupus are complex traits, that certainly have both contributing to the phenotype.
