T1a1 is now split into a, b, c all the way to m. Thirteen different branches, some large some small. With differing locations. As a T1a1 what is the best method of my finding my (terminal?) branch?

Where did you get this information? I was tested T1a1b over a year ago. Is this a new turn of events.

I was determined to be T1a1 at 23andme. Do some other testing people break it down even further? Thanks!

I have not tested with 23andme but I would suggest that you ask them if T1a1 is your terminal subclade. Also, may I suggest that you look here http://isogg.org/wiki/MtDNA_testing_comparison_chart to see if you feel your mtDNA testing has been adequate. I tested with Family Tree DNA for full mtDNA sequencing. It included H1, H2 and other coding regions and displayed my results in both the rCRS and RSRS standards. I am quite satisfied with the results. These details have been very helpful in making contact with possible distant relatives. I did comparisons at http://www.ianlogan.co.uk/checker/genbank.htm and http://www.mitosearch.org/ with the .fasta file provided by ftdna. Do you have a .fasta file with your results? I am hardly an expert and do not know if it would be helpful for you to test further.

I am T1a1 on 23and me, I looked at Gedmatch and a couple of T1a1a (commonest sub branch) are there. As more folk get tested the price comes down.

I think in some ways that the Viking theory is a non runner. T1a1 was found at Cladh Hallan, 1200 BC.

Yea, I didnt try creating new theories. Wasn't that sample a T1a though?

I found only one sample with T1a1c - VK86 from Jutland ca 850 CE
