Welcome to V, the not so common haplogroup. I don't know much about it, but searching Google should give you something.

Have any of you done the full mtDNA?

So far my dad is V3 and not V3a, not V3b, still could be V3c perhaps going by the Geno 2.0 and 23 tests.
We might do a full mtDNA.

My dad got V3c with full mtDNA.
He has a bunch of distance 1 matches. Only one of them is perfect over HVR1 and HVR2. Not sure whether this match or the ones with one step off in HV1 or HVR2 but perfect CR matches are likely to be closer. Not sure if it means anything or it is just an artifact of who has tested but his distance 1 matches are all tracing ancestry to either the UK or Germany.
My dad is from Latvia.

AED_106 of the early medieval Baiuvarii has mtDNA V3, if anyone's interested to know.

I saw that V is common in the Saami people of Finland, and that it is originated in the Cantabria (Spain) region. As for myself, I'm V3, and in the matrilinear lineage my ancestors were in Veneto (northern Italy) region at least from 16th century.
