I am not overly fond of birds as a general rule, but Owls have always been amongst my few favs of the species.
As a northerner, I of course have a particular appreciation of the Snowy Owl...so very beautiful!
I did not know what deadly and effective predators Owls are when I was a kid (always sort of had the greek ideal of the wise old owl in my head I guess), but sure appreciate their rodent catching ability now!

I encountered singles in two separate locations in SE Arizona many years ago; one in the Huachuca Mountains, and one in that Apache paradise, the Chiricahua Mountains. However, I only heard their calls. I wasn't able to bring them into view.
