When I became aware of DNA testing sometime in 2004, I was intrigued by SNP testing even though STRs were the tool for genealogy which was what brought me to test in the first place. SNPs were more about major human migrations.

Now at the close of 2015 we have Public SNP trees (R1) that bring us to timeframes around 500BC in some cases. I understand that with the newer full Y and Big Y tests, people can now find SNPs personal to them that can reach into the historic period and I guess in theory right up to a previous generation.

For those of you who have tested with the big tests, how many more SNPS were discovered in your results? Do you expect your results will take over from STR testing for your genealogical research?
