On the day that Ötzi the “Iceman” was murdered in the Tyrolean Alps of Italy about 5300 years ago, he had a full stomach—and a tummy bug. But it wasn’t just any gut microbe—this early farmer was infected with a particular ancient strain of Helicobacter pylori bacteria that is most similar to modern Asian strains. By sequencing the genome of this ancient pathogen, which can cause ulcers in people today, researchers have made a surprising discovery about Ötzi’s own history: His ancestors inherited bacteria from Asia rather than Africa, suggesting that the predecessors of early European farmers had intimate contact with Asians before they migrated to Europe.

He seems to share the same strain as modern peoples from the Indian Subcontinent. Does this tell us anything about his lineage??

It's little bit more subtle. Here is the map of pre-Columbian distribution of strains of Helicobacter pylori:

The main European strain hpEurope is assumed to be a hybrid of hpAsia2 and hpNEAfrica. The sample from Oetzi belongs to hpAsia2. The authors conjecture that hpNEAfrica was introduced to Europe at some point after Oetzi's lifetime, i.e. un the last 5000 years.

The way I read this:
1. H. pylori strain found in most Europeans (hpEurope) putatively originated from recombination of the two ancestral populations Ancestral Europe 1 and 2 (AE1 and AE2).
2. AE1 originated in Central Asia.
3. AE1 evolved into hpAsia2, which is commonly found in South Asia.
4. AE2 evolved in northeast Africa and hybridized with AE1 to become hpEurope.
5. Iceman's strain was assigned to the modern population hpAsia2, commonly found in Central and South Asia.

The reason they found this so surprising is because "despite intensive sampling, only three hpAsia2 strains have ever been detected in modern Europeans."
