I was playing around with Gedmatch's people who match 2 or more kits feature and I have some kits matching me and each other. I thought it could be a place to start but when I tried to check out the ftdna kits on ftdna's chromosome browser, they don't show up (I enter the names as ftdna doesn't allow searching by kit number -or I couldn't find it). Am I a match with these kits on Gedmatch but not ftDNA? None of them are below 7cms as I haven't altered with Gedmatch's defaults.

Ftdna has a higher treshold. I have a relevant match on gedmatch which is absent on my ftdna matches but appears at my dads ftdna.

Thanks! My dad's is on its way, I'll have a better idea when I have his results, too.

Do you know what's the threshold for ftdna? I can tweak the Gedmatch to match ftdna. But when I get matches on Gedmatch, they're still "relatives", yeah? Very distant ones, but there IS some connection. Or is it just noise? (in this case probably not, because I have 5 kits who match each other albeit in small segments.)

They can be matches but tracing them on your tree is impossible unless they match your ethnicity or geographical region.
