View Full Version : M2783 problematic in the N SNP Pack

FTDNA continues to list M2783 as included in the N SNP Pack, but reality differs: Two men who ordered the N SNP Pack and who phylogenetically need an M2783 result, have been officially marked as complete with no further tests pending, despite still lacking an M2783 result.

I refer to kits

Their N SNP Pack orders were marked as complete on September 25. At that time, M2783 was still shown on each haplotree in orange ("Test In Progress"). But now, M2783 is shown in blue ("Test Available")--even though M2783 is still listed as an N SNP Pack component.

It is quite possible, perhaps likely, that one or both men actually belong to the N-Y13982 clade (http://yfull.com/tree/N-Y13982/), but that SNP is not included in the current N SNP Pack. Hopefully, it will be in the next version.

Perhaps the testing difficulty is due to an incorrect attempt to treat M2783 as a single independent SNP. In actuality, the trio of M2782, M2783, and M2784 is apparently a unitary mutation spread across 6 base pairs (from 9850682 to 9850687).
M2782 : 9850682
M2783 : 9850683
M2784 : 9850687
