I've mentioned on other threads a family history, including on the maternal (J) side, around the Welsh Borders as far back as I could trace.
I thought I would share this J Haplogroup distribution map from Cymru DNA in case it may be of interest. It is said to represent the situation "a hundred years ago or more".

Interesting! I didn't expect it to be so high in northeastern Scotland.

I think I read something about an early migration route down through Scotland and wondered if it could be related to that? It does seem to diminish further South and West.

9% MUNSTER REPRESENT! (that's the three crown flag on my flag row, from my maternal line ancestor Nellie Ryan, born in western County Waterford in 1873, mother to 12 children, including my great-grandmother Alice Robinson)
