Experts to please guide how to interpret/read the RAW SNP Date Format

Hi Folks,

Couple of months back I transferred by results to FTDNA site and they have two YSNP files to download. One looks like below (see screenshot): As you can see that column see show abbreviations like AA, CC , GG , TT.

My question is : does this file show a list of your tested positive snps or is it just showed the location of these snps on your genome? What is this file used for ?

The second file that is available to download is of the format below and shows the tested positive SNP's . Is this file to be used in conjuction with the above or this alone is used to show the positive snps

Use the results from the first file to find all of your positive and negative SNPs that you can cross reference at http://www.isogg.org/tree/ISOGG_YDNA_SNP_Index.html

The only SNPs that I can find for J2-M92 are CTS2906 and L556 although there might be others if you have a more up to date tree than ISOGG for your subclade. The tree at https://sites.google.com/site/compositeytree/j2 might be a good place to look for other SNPs.

Be aware that the Geno 2.0 test isn't 100% reliable so you could have some false positives and some false negatives. FTDNA only reports the positives that they think us relevant which is what is in the 2nd file.

I only had Geno2.0 testing done and transferred the results to FTDNA. A question Armando , your guidance will be greatly appreciated. The file number 1 has all this symbols like AA, GG, TT and CC as results against the SNPs. Which one of these are positive and which one of these are negatives?

For instance the very first SNP shows :

SNP Result
FGC17679 GG

If the result is GG , is it positive or negative?

Similarly what does AA TT CC stand for when they are give as results .
