Have noticed since last bout of uploads to dna land an increase in spam posts to the domain names I used to sign on with. Maybe it's just coincidental. Luckily I have good spam filtering.

I too have had a noticeable increase in mostly porn spam to my email account...I cannot think of anything 'new' I signed up for and I did not do dna land....wonder if a new major spammer has crawled out of the muck

Ditto on the porn. The grammar seems to indicate an oriental new to English. Messages are different, but seem to be written by same person. Wishing you all a happy ending.:thumb:

No porn for me. I'm getting invitations to dabble in forex trading through a nifty application called Google Trader. I've had only two brief bursts, about half a dozen in recent days, after no spam of any sort for many months. I've had no recent transactions with DNA.LAND, either.

ahh man, and after I show this one, I go back to my email and find another...these have only been showing up the last several weeks...they get by my ISP providers filter, and then mine...

Recently there's been a big increase in my neck of the woods in the number of very dangerous lookalike emails ostensibly from utilities such as gas, water, electricity and post office being sent -- usually originating in Russia.

With the trend away from snail mailed invoices and package collection notices, towards emailed PDF's, these criminals are fooling lots of people into opening the attached document that then executes a virus that proceeds to "cryptolock" as many of your files as it can, especially Word documents and Excel spreadsheets, so that you cannot open them until the crypotolocks are removed. You are then advised that you have to pay (typically) a couple of hundred dollars via Bitcoin -- nigh on impossible to trace -- in order to get the unlock code. If you do pay the ransom, you may or may not get the unlock code.

I know some business people who have been hit with this thing. These folks receive dozens of business transaction emails every week, so they are sitting ducks for this scam.

Just noticed a lot of mine is bounce spam described as
“Backscatter”, or “bounce spam”, occurs when a spammer impersonates your email address to send spam messages. If the spam message cannot be delivered, a non-delivery notification may be sent by the destination server back to your address, creating more spam

There were a lot of "message returned undeliverable" with a from address of [email protected] I have adjusted my spam filter to discard such messages. May also lower the threshold at which spam generally is discarded from 7 to 6.
