Dear members,
Following the closure of the Current Affairs section almost three months ago (http://www.anthrogenica.com/showthread.php?6546-Current-Affairs-Section-Closure-Notice-(24hrs)), the team have been contemplating the fate of the two forum sections which contain political (http://www.anthrogenica.com/forumdisplay.php?112-Political-Science-and-Economics) and religious (http://www.anthrogenica.com/forumdisplay.php?110-Philosophy-Ethics-and-Religion) discussion. We are seeking to streamline our general policy towards content which is focused specifically on these topics.
The team is largely in agreement that both topics will inevitably present themselves in discussions (as is the nature of anthropology). After deliberation, we are seeking input from the community regarding your preferences.
Please find an anonymous single-choice poll attached to this thread. The two options provided by us are the following:
Retain Religion and Politics - The current sections will exist as they are. However, additional stipulations will be in place (500 post threshold to view, additional oversight from Local Moderators).
Remove both completely - Voting for this option lends your support to a forum-wide discouragement of religious and political discussion. The Political Science and Economics and Philosophy, Ethics and Religion sections would have their titles altered accordingly.
Please also note this poll is with respect to firmly religious and political discussion in Anthrogenica. The blanket ban on religious expression that took place on DNA-Forums in 2010-11 (where even wishing members a Merry Christmas resulted in thread closure/deletion!) will not be replicated here. Our aim here is, once more, to streamline our approach to religious and political discussion on this forum. Our Terms of Service will be modified once the outcome is made clear.
The presence of politics on this forum has already been discussed (one thread (http://www.anthrogenica.com/showthread.php?2424-Politics-at-Anthrogenica), another thread (http://www.anthrogenica.com/showthread.php?2439-Community-Poll-Current-Affairs-Section-s-Future)).
Thank you all for your input.
