Hi all,
I have an apparent haplogroup synonym problem. I am a member of haplogroup R-FGC22963 (subclade of R-Z142). The next branch down is FGC22940 (at least that is what YFull calls it, and also on the Big Tree).
But on my updated haplotree at FTDNA, this clade is called FGC22968 (the other SNP associated with FGC22940). Right next to FGC22968 on the FTDNA tree is says More, so when I clicked it, I thought it would say FGC22940. Instead it says ZP67.
I assume ZP67 and FGC22940 are synonyms, but how can I verify that. I have never seen ZP67 until now. Couldn't find it at the Big Tree or ISOGG.
------------Ken

P.S. Are the ZP numbers connected with a particular company?

ZP SNPs are named by Peter of the Z18 Project and http://l257.groenebeverbv.nl/ I do not see ZP67 listed yet in Ybrowse to see what its position is. Most ZP SNPs are downstream of Z18 or DF49. Peter does post here periodically, and jdean may know as well.

Thanks,
I was able to find one webpage that showed the position for ZP67 (same as for FGC22940), and it also explicitly states that ZP67 and FGC22940 are synonyms: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17907527/R1b-DF49xM222-Pack.pdf

At least that seems to confirm what I suspected. What I don't understand is why FTDNA prefers to use ZP67 (and doesn't even mention FGC22940).
