Dear members,

Thank you all for your participation in a recent poll (http://www.anthrogenica.com/showthread.php?7113-Religion-amp-Politics-in-Anthrogenica-Community-Poll&p=157770#post157770) intended to sample the community's position on religious and political discussion in the forum. The close results, coincidentally, mirrored the outcome in a staff-only poll.

After deliberation, the team have unanimously supported a proposal made by one of the moderators that satisfies the seemingly irreconcilable poll options and coincides with an upcoming series of changes to Anthrogenica (will be announced in due course). The modified version of this proposal is shown below:

The two forum sections currently hosting religious and political discussion will be closed imminently and moved to an upcoming (and currently hidden) section. This will be undertaken shortly after this thread is posted.
Religious and political discussion is now prohibited outside of this section. A new inclusion in our Terms of Service (announcement here (http://www.anthrogenica.com/showthread.php?7-Terms-of-Service-and-Forum-Rules-Update&p=161871#post161871)) outlines the current policy.
As will be elaborated upon in the coming days to weeks, access to the upcoming section can be requested by members who belong to one of several upcoming "classes". Please note members will have the choice to join these classes. With the exception of the stipulation below, Member autonomy is the sole decider of participation per this proposal.
As an additional measure, members belonging to these classes must also accrue at least 500 posts before viewing the section.

Summarized, religious and political discussion are not permitted anywhere on Anthrogenica with the exception of the upcoming section discussed above. Until the series of upgrades have taken place, we advise our members to wait until the "classes" are made available to continue participating in the discussions, if that is their choice.

If there is any ambiguity regarding the above proposal, please either wait for the further updates, or comment below, with the understanding that some of the imminent changes can't be disclosed just yet (spoilers and all :) ).

Thanks all for your time!

Edit at Jul 4 16: Please see this new thread for further information on the above. (http://www.anthrogenica.com/showthread.php?7755-Forum-Updates-amp-Changes-Please-Read-(Jul-16))

Did you miss a decimal point out somewhere in there?

Hi MacUalraig,

No mistakes made - The administration have agreed that a 500 post threshold is appropriate for the sake of limiting the number of individuals who may have access to it.

This decision was informed based on our current staff pool and our experience with respect to the administrative load discussions of these topics have brought us.

Excluding staff, at present, that would grant over 57 members the opportunity to participate in the section, if they belong to one of the several classes and choose to view it. This is approximately a quarter of our weekly regulars right now.
