R1b - Z367 SNP Pack Result: R- CTS9733. Is any significance known for this SNP??

I requested the Z367 SNP Pack on 6/24/2016 and found the result today at FTDNA - so it took only 5 weeks. Pretty fast, I would say.

FTDNA now gives my Haplogroup as R-CTS9733. U152+, L2+, L20+, Z367+, Z383+, Z384+, CTS9733+, YSC0000193+ . Formed 3900 ybp, TMRCA 3900 ybp.

When I look at the FTDNA Map for R-CTS9733, there is one yellow dot in southern Sweden, one in The Netherlands, one in Alsace, France, one on the border of Italy and Switzerland, one in northern Sicily, one in northern Portugal and three in England. I am certain that my oldest known ancestor, Thomas Mylam, - first found on the frontier of Virginia in Orange County in 1738 - was from Great Britain. David Hackett Fischer's Albion's Seed suggested the south and southwest of England were the major source of immigrants to Virginia at that time .

Does anyone know more about the ancestral origin of R-CTS9733 ?? Thanks a lot for any info.

Hi Celt, I'm L20+ as well, but I'm CTS9733 T Ancestral form, instead you are the derived form C
My terminal SNP is BY 5690 and on U152 project I'm as Bernardo from Tivegna, my earliest known ancestor. At the moment it is not easy to know more about the ancestral origin of CTS9733. Let's wait for ancient DNA test! My best regards

@ Titus Valerius Thank you. You live in a beautiful part of the world. I tremendously enjoyed 3 days in Vernazza, Cinque Terre, hiking the coast. I read the several posts regarding "Bolgeris" et al. From my limited SNP testing, it appears I am heading toward his group. Attached image is from Big Tree:

I had imagined that after the Z367 SNP Pack testing, my ancestors would be narrowed geographically to Great Britain - but not so. The R- CTS9733 type is scatted from Sweden to Sicily. Best regards to you, William

You'll eventually go Big Y one day and join the Ytree, but then all your money spent on SNP testing will be wasted ;-)
I am on Ytree and have learnt to accept, that SNPs and haplogroups take over, where the paper trail ends (1650 in my case!) - do not expect SNP's to give you a name of a given ancestor!

But the haplogroup science is great fun to ;-)

My most distant paternal ancestor is from a poor lumberjack from Denmark, born 1650, but with Celtic Y-DNA. The explanation could be, that he most probably was a descendant of a male slave, brought to Denmark from the British Isles by the Vikings. That could also be the reason that he was a lumberjack - no land inherited from the father...
