Hello everyone, first post here on the DF27 section.
I am a student, and i did a YSeq test, and i'm R1B-DF27* with DF27 as R+ .
My father family is from brittany in France.

Here is my 23andme composition result, my father side should be the Irish & Brittish + French :
here the link (http://www.awesomescreenshot.com/upload/21700/22011/6cff2967-bf29-4810-4454-f1dcfa6317ff.jpg)

I'm not 100% sure i'm a DF27 as i didn't find any SNP with my YSeq test, but in some time i will do the Y-STR67 to know more about my paternal line.
i don't know if it can help, but here there is my 23andme surname view :

11044

We can see that in count, the top5 is :
-Brown
-Taylor
-Anderson
-Davis
-Williams
But i don't know what does mean the enrichment section.

If you want, you can also see my YSeq result more in detail but as i said, the most important here is that i'm DF27 R+ :

I don't think we are related but, yep, those are exactly the same names I got, as 4th or 5th, but in different order. Could that be a feature of df27 French men, or of all French/European in general?

My Y67 STR from FTDNA is now available ! I just have Y12 & Y25.

My predicted Haplogroup is R-M269
Is it normal that for 23&me i'm L51+ (which is under P312) and for FTDNA i'm R-M269 (which is above P312) ?
They advise me to buy the pack M343&M269 Backbone for 99$ .

Now for my results

I'm already on the R-DF27 project, do i have some odds to be a real DF27 or it's not sure with these results ?

Cheers.

You seem to be more Italian than anything else. That is unusual for someone living in NW France.

Cheers.

I'm wondering whether your UK matches relate to a Breton presence after the Norman Conquest, they held land in the West Country/Welsh Borders and parts of Eastern England. Not sure about the North. John

I can't help to pronounce mentally 'Mister Anderson' like Agent Smith in the Matrix. I also got tons of Anderson, Gilliland and Brown 12/12 STR matches, they must be a big part of the basic North European genetic make up. That is, if you got some significant British/Irish ancestral component in the population around you, which includes Western France and Northern France, you will get these names both as Autosomal matches and STR matches. This is probably because the same people test for autosomal and STR more often than none, but most importantly because European people are mostly the product of a population expansion that started 4-5000 years at most. There is no way around that.

And when I first saw The Fellowship of the Ring back in 2001, I couldn't help but think "Mr Anderson...." everytime Elrond spoke. He spoke exactly the same way.

If you can afford it go straight to Big Y. If you can't, wait until you can. If you don't understand the point of Big Y, instead of spending more money spend more time learning about YDNA.

We desperately need lots of Big Ys from Brittany.

Did you try searching for matches in ysearch? You might have a real match hiding behind the corner. For some silly reason FTDNA only shows up to GD 4 matches at 37 markers and I think also at 67. In ysearch you can find all the matches and also your matches' matches.

I've created my account on Ysearch !
What is the best accurate to look at ? :

- ~55/67 (67 Markers compared with 12 as Genetic Distance)
- ~32/37
- ~24/27
- ~13/13

In other terms, is it better to look at higer number of STR even if there is genetic distance, or is it better to look at 0 genetic distance ?

About my results :
I have a lot of people from England, Ireland, Scotland
I have some people from Wales, Spain and France.

Yeah i know about the BigY... But right now, i also want to find some stuff about my short genealogy, because i have good odds to have right now a LastName which doesn't belong to me, and then i want to find some close match with short genealogy to find later on my real last name.

BigY is more about long long long genealogy i will do it for sure, but it's not my piority right now as i even don't have a lot of money to spend (i'm currently a student).

Cheers.

I found you in the DF27 project (after I finally deduced your kit number). I've never fully understood the logic of YSEQ's panel approach, in your case specifically why they test a lot of the subclades of DF27, but not the biggest one (Z195)? For people who did that M343 test at FTDNA, I'd see Z195- and put you in group E -- and then recommend the DF27 SNP Pack as your next logical option at FTDNA. But it would be cheaper just to ask YSEQ for a Z195 (or Z196) SNP test, and report the result where I can see it. I look at the French forum occasionally, so I have seen your posts there. It is still possible that you are Z195+, as far as I can tell. Not very likely, but possible, until someone tests you negative for it.

YSEQ did report Z198-, so your 25 STR "match" with a Z205+ guy named Gilliland is not meaningful. (Z205 is well downstream of Z198.)

If you want to confirm your DF27+ status at FTDNA, you can order a single test for DF27 from them for $49. If you're not certain about being DF27+, the M343 test is better. FTDNA has only tested your STR's: DF27 is an SNP. FTDNA has predicted you to be some kind of R1b-M269 from your STR markers, which is normal. P312 is a variety of M269, and DF27 is variety of P312. FTDNA doesn't predict beyond M269 from STR markers alone.

After comparing the different prices between M343 Pack + DF27 Pack for what they can bring to me, and what i've already done as Test before (23&me : L51, Yseq DF27 Panel All negatives with DF27 R+, Y67),
i've decided with the Holiday Sale + 75$ Coupon to order BigY, it's the best invest to do on my case with these holiday sale and coupon.

Congratulations! Big Y doesn't test DF27 itself but it will find SNPs below it and if you're not DF27 it will also find whatever you are and place you in your exact location in the Y tree. You're also going to get your own private variants that will eventually be matched by someone. On top of that you're helping all the other people who did NGS tests and you're a discoverer contributing to the advance of science.

In the long term you'll save a lot of money because anyway you were going to end up doing Big Y or another NGS test.

- 32/37 is a match I have also in FTDNA with 23/25, a Morgan from USA. I've read the Morgan's family came from Wales.
- 31/37 is a match from Spain from FTDNA, but i can't find him on FTDNA, a Casaus or Casados or Salazar (different variants).

- 29/34 (3 matches in total) from Ireland or USA.

Wales, Spain... Sounds promising. Talking about STRs, you can upload the raw data of Big Y to YFull and for $49 get hundreds of STRs aside from their analysis and TMRCA.

I've received my results of BigY.

The analyze of Alex isn't finish yet but right now, i'm on haplogroup ZZ12 (cell white right now) and block ZZ19 (cell red right now)
I guess then i'm confirmed as DF27 :) !

The block on Alex's Tree (http://www.ytree.net/DisplayTree.php?blockID=743)
I can recognize some results from my BigY on this block.

Sorry, I'm not that one. I can see you in my matches and we share fewer SNPs. Anyway, most of those matches are quite irrelevant, don't waste too much time with them. We're definitely related (remotely), since we're both DF27 and ZZ12, but we are in different blocks. I'm in the A6137 block an you're in the ZZ19/ ZZ20. That still leaves us something like 4500 years apart.

By the way, the YFull analysis might not be that useful to you. They'll probably have you just as P312, since they don't count the ZZ12 and ZZ19 mutations and Big Y doesn't read the DF27 SNP.

It's cute that you're H5a1 and I'm H5a2 (mtDNA). That means that we're also related from our mothers' side (thousands of years ago) :)
