View Full Version : X DNA- phased kit and one to many

Perhaps someone could explain. I presume a one to many search for my father's phase kit would produce results that are in both our lists. If so I am wondering why there are X matches listed with above 7 cMs total/largest block listed. Given that we don't share X dna I would expect no such X matches to be listed. Or am I missing something?

You can both have X matches in common.
Inheritance of the X allosome is conserved more than that of the autosomes --due to daughter's inheriting their father's X intact.
Even if matching segments (between you, your father & the mutual match) occur on the same region of X; all it means that your mother, (potentially) wwwaaayyy down the line was kin to your father's mother, and those two women shared a common ancestor with one of the matches parents --or in the case of the match being male, their mother.
