Hello, I read that L-M20 was found in 51% of Syrians from Al-Raqqah, a northern Syrian city (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haplogroup_L-M20). Why is this y-dna so common in especially that city? Does anyone know and can explain?

I cant answer your question properly why is so dense in raqqa but what i know according to thier STR values, they are L-M27 L1a1, which is very frequent in South india but also exsist in Kuwait and Suudia Arabia.

Also exists in Iran, parts of Levant and Armenia as far as I remember. For the OP, they probably sampled a closely related family or a tribe(founder effects are probably the reason)

It seems you are very right. Most probably some of them are in same clan.

There are around 350 samples from Syria here ,but there are only 3 samples from my province ,although its inhabitants make up 7% of the population
