There are 444 samples from Portugal (north, n=244; center, n=100; and south, n=100) and 0 FGC18401's been found.

But 1 has been found in Buenos Aires, probably ¿Italians?, especially the odd DYS389i=13 occurs on some Italian samples.

Interesting. Particularly curious about those Arbereshe, who seem to be bucking the trend...

Do you have a hot take on FGC18401?

Do you have a hot take on FGC18401?

Unfortunately SNP testing wise there're only a handful people have tested FGC18401 so far and we have only one NGS testee that we know his STR haplotype. We don't know the daughter clade Sardinian Z36154's STR haplotype and cant place people accordingly. Frequency wise there are 2 hotspots, south Italy and historical Armenia/Kurdistan, it peaks in the latter.

Although there're still too much to discover I think her upstream FGC18412 is from West Asia and could be Ubaid. And FGC18401 is her northern branch while Y21768 southern branch. I haven't noticed any FGC18401 in neither Greece nor Iraq(xKurds, scarce data on Assyrians) which is kinda problematic.

There're trace amount FGC18401 in Albania could be ultimately from south Italy and Arbereshe's case it could be both. There're also 2 Ashkenazi guys with seemingly FGC18401+ and a Sephardic guy (Poland, Romania/Moldovia, Egypt respectively). I think they picked up from south Italy.

In Levantine minority groups Druze and the Christians like Maronites et al there's 0 FGC18401 and in Cyprus there's just one case so far. So I don't think its from the Levant hence I believe the Jewish line is from Italy.

Very fascinating. Do you reckon that most Kurdish M84 is FGC 18401? How about the Iron Age Armenians?

I also noticed on Haplozone that you found L791 in Ahwazi Arabs and in a few of the SE Turkey samples. For the latter, do you know their locations/ethnic ID?

I analysed the higher covarege RISE423 back then (http://community.haplozone.net/index.php?topic=3961.msg40203#msg40203) and he's E-M84>CTS1096+ (Y5412-, Y14899-, PF6751-), could be anything between E-Y5441 and E-Y5412 per YFull tree (https://www.yfull.com/tree/E-M84/). Lower covarege RISE416 only have positive for M84 equivalents (http://forum.molgen.org/index.php/topic,9129.msg343925.html#msg343925).

Around half Kurdish M84 looks like FGC18401, this number could rise higher if they were tested by FTDNA instead of 23andMe. It's frequency is much higher in north than south. But there are some distinct haplotypes as well.

I don't any info other than they're from SE Turkey, they could be Arab, Armenian, Assyrian, Kurdish, Turkish.

I really have no idea, Adam. I found his results from the French project. It's not possible to get in touch with this gentleman unless we're in same project or he matches with me.

Bourbon Royals, at least Louis XVI, were definitelly R1b-U106 (direct Frankish ancestry). No doubt on that. For further info refer to Pr Lucotte and Larmuseau studies. Many people claim to be from Bourbons lineage, but many are storytellers.

thanks ,
i guess this guy is from the storytellers side .....:)
http://www.ancestraljourneys.org/royaldna.shtml
there is still confusion if the borubon was r1b-u106 because he could also be G2
maybe some kings were r1b-u106 and some G2 ....
frankish ancestery go well with u-106 as you say ;)

p.s
either way i am still intrested to hear this dude he jump to far claiming to be descendent of those legendary kings

So I finally received my Big Y results after 8 weeks of waiting. I requested the BAM file. The analysis below is according to the VCF file.

FTDNA have found 51 novel variants of which 47 are high and 4 medium confidence level. Currently I have no matches, it should be updated in a few days.

I checked the all novel variants, some of them are upstream of FGC18401 and some are at same level, and a few are recurrent SNPs that is positive at other haplogroups like C, I, J and some of them are part of STRs.

Novel variants that are not in YFull tree, recurrent at other haplogroups, or part of STR (=garbage SNPs)

@MfA
Thanks for including the new Cypriot data. Can you elaborate a bit more on the ancestral significance of this marker? Is it linked to any specific migrations? What is the most likely source population / location? Thanks.

you are still nowhere (not enough data), you need a match to be correctly classified on the tree.
Are you really yemeni ? or the yemeni from Turkia ?
