Hi Guys,

I hope you're all well.

Quick question. I have taken the plunge into proper DNA depths and decided to move on from ancestry compositions into the Y37 STR on FTDNA. I know it isn't significant but I am open to doing full genome mapping in the future.

What can I learn and what can I do with this test. I am very new to this and FTDNA is a confusing website.

Thanks!

You can find some relatives from your direct paternal line (but 37 markers sometimes aren't enough to make serious conclusions), and it gives you an ability to discover the history of your paternal line ancestry.

It's also the ticket to joining various projects and being compared with various people who have only done STR testing (many who have tested some time ago and are unable to be tested further due to being deceased and no DNA available).
