Hello

Does anyone of you know this study?

Welcome to the forum! Glad to see another R2a-M124+ cousin here.

Yes, those findings were quite extensively discussed in this thread (http://www.anthrogenica.com/showthread.php?7489-Lazaridis-et-al-The-genetic-structure-of-the-world-s-first-farmers-(pre-print)&p=165422&viewfull=1#post165422). Reviewing the findings again...

Sample I1945/GD16 ("5.5-7.5 year-old child ..."), from Ganj Dareh (Kordestan province, West Iran), one of the Iran_N samples:

R-Y482-M479-F3302
R-Y482-M479-PF7490
R-Y482-M479-Y3399-PF7493
R-Y482-M479-Y3399-FGC12611/Y3420
R-Y482-M479-Y3399-FGC12618/Y4690
R-Y482-M479-Y3399-Y12100-Y8763-Y8766-V3714-L295-Y1334-Y1357-Y1364
R-Y482-M479-Y3399-Y12100-Y8763-Y8766-V3714-L295-Y1334-Y1357-Y1365

Y3399 is equivalent to M124, so this fellow was R2a-M124+ L295-.

Sample I1949/GD37 ("30-50 year-old male..."), from the same site as GD16:

R-Y482-M479-Y7752/FGC22573
R-Y482-M479-M479/PF6107
R-Y482-M479-F2585
R-Y482-M479-F3265
R-Y482-M479-FGC12614/Y3368
R-Y482-M479-FGC12592/Y3413

This one is a bit confusing - According to Genetiker, it is positive for several downstream SNPs for M479 (R2), but M479/PF6107 isn't highlighted as bold. I can only assume it was negative specifically for PF6107, hence "pre-R2". Therefore, the man could not be the boy's patrilineal relative.

The boy matches all the basic M124+ L295- SNPs one would find in most modern L295- samples. Would have been very informative if he was tested for P267. This appears to be the main non-L295 subclade beneath M124 now.

Thanks for the summary, DMXX. I'm "Rhyndakos" from "Digging into R2" forum.

I'm L295- and P267-.

Ah! Especially glad to have another veteran R2 cousin here. :)

I'm P267+, L295-, L1069-. Haven't tested for L263, but I'll probably be negative for that.

That technically puts both of us as R2a*-M124, though you're looking at least one upstream SNP more ancient than I. :)

[Edit]: Just saw your results on the R2 FTDNA page - When did you test for P267? It isn't coming up there. Shows you as M124+, L381+, F1092-. I share the same mutation profile. Looks like P267 is the main separation between us.

Thank you. =)

Undergrounder (Aziz) paid kind of a test for me in November 2015 through another provider than FTDNA. To be honest, I have no clue what I was tested for, but I remember he was kind of enthusiastic about the results, haha. And I remember him telling me that I was negative towards (almost?) everything I was tested for. Since he has recorded me to be P267-, I guess that can be attributed to this particular test.

Aziz told me that L263 will probably be some 1000 years old, only. Seems like my paternal ancestor was an Armenian who got hellenized in Byzantine times (no rare event at all at this time).

Where are you from Persia?

Yes, I've reviewed the R2 project SNP results (https://www.familytreedna.com/public/R2-M124-WTY?iframe=ysnp) just now. Only three samples are P267- aside from yourself. L381 is the next most common SNP after it among M124+ people (we're all positive for it except for one sample).

I'll be returning to the R2 community to help out sometime later this year (as you may imagine, co-admin'ing this place has taken a lot of my recreational time!). We have a good community there and UG has been instrumental in our growth. I look forward to assisting him fulfill his vision for our project. A lot of headway has been made.
