Mailing Samples to YSEQ German Address from the US

I properly packaged sample, did customs declaration as "DNA swabs," and $13 for first class postage from the US a month ago with promised delivery in 5-13 days however sample has not arrived or been returned. The other US postage options were several times that cost.

Any hints on best way to send samples from US to Germany? The fresh swabs arrive from a US address.

    Email YSEQ for help.

Declared & mailed mine without issue.

Received in Germany within a week.

Oh I did. They thought I should have paid to have tracking number. Told them to wait a week or two. Other samples for me that were sent from Jamaica and Canada in the past have been delayed.

I also mailed from the US to Germany for a YSEQ sample recently. I put it in a regular envelope and took it to the USPS as I wasn't sure if I needed to make a customs declaration - USPS said not necessary and it went to Germany. YSEQ sent me an email within a week telling me they received it.

My post office said I did need customs certificate. Made me put $10 dollar value instead of zero. Charged me $13 bucks. Probably just bad luck. Maybe saying they were DNA swabs was a mistake.

This doesn't help you now, but ISOGG recommends labeling as genealogy sample rather than DNA swab as it's technically not considered DNA until it is extracted at the lab.http://https://isogg.org/wiki/Shipping_DNA_kits

Thanks! Was not available, but still in Google cache. Perhaps things are changing?

I've been involved with perhaps a dozen swabs being returned to Germany.
    Put in envelope.
    Attach 3 first class stamps.
    Drop in mail.
    Works every time.
