In following the mtDNA tree at 23andme I found the node subK1a_01. On 23andMe's mtDNA tree,this node joins K1a9 and Ka10. I searched on the Internet to find subK1a_01 and couldn't finding anything. It doesn't exist in Phylotree Build 17; there k1a9 and K1a10 just branch off K1a independently. What is subK1a_01? Is it an actual haplogroup? Why doesn't it warrant a better name and why can't I find anything on it? If this node is a haplogroup, how old is it and where did it originate? It's two subclades, K1a9 and K1a10, have enough geographic and demographic separation to make subK1a_01 an interesting study.
