Interesting. I'm rather curious as to what part of Greece your family came from. With your I2a2 Y haplogroup and your brother's 26% Eastern European autosomal amount I'd guess Northern Greece...near the border with Macedonia or the area about Salonika?

Could be anywhere on the mainland except for the far southern Peloponnese or Attica really. But I would guess either Thessaly, Macedonia, Epirus, or Thrace due to the high Eastern European.

Father's side from Eastern Rumelia and mother's side from Central Greece and East Thrace(nowadays Turkey).

Can you post your results, out of curiosity? Did you upload your RAW data on Gedmatch?

sure thing, my results are here ancestry.jpg

your bro has lower Eastern Europe, and higher caucasus than i do, which makes sense given the geography, but the similar trace regions are interesting! must have been those saxon miners/viking invaders. i am on gedmatch though! i was half kidding about us being cousins, but i do seem to have many greek matches through both my parents so its very possible!

What is the share of the Greek population with Anatolian ancestors? You have little West Asian heritage. I thought West Asian genes would be distributed evenly among the Greeks.

West Asian ancestry is low on the mainland. It is only higher among people of Pontic or Cappadoccian Greek ancestry living in the north, but native northern Greeks are close to Bulgarians, just a bit more "south".

Indeed, your result are almost the same as him. It's interesting your high percentage of Italy/Greece as a person coming from FYROM. It could be possible to have some Greek or even Albanian ancestry. Thank you for the saxon miners/viking invaders information.
