    U152+ Z367+ in the Netherlands

While the "Genomes of the Netherlands" project (GoNL) is still processing their data, there are already a few interesting pieces of information on their website:

    http://www.genoomvannederland.nl/?page_id=9

Of the 500 males, 36 were U152+ (7.2%) which is double what Myres found in a smaller sample (87 samples, 3.4%). The new frequency is more in line with what is found in northern Germany and the border region with Belgium.

Now the interesting part...16 of the 36 samples were L2+ Z367+, another words 44.4% of their U152+ samples were Z367+! Of those, 12 were L20+ and 4 were Z34.

L2 itself was not tested for whatever reason, but some can be inferred based on known SNPs below it. Eight samples were Z49+ and 4 others belong to a yet unclassified SNP below L2(xZ49,Z367).

To round things out, 2 were Z56+. There were no Z36 nor Z193 samples.

That leaves 6 unclassified U152 samples that could still be L2+.

    Sorry Richard,
I did not understand exactly the meaning of the preceding words.
The new SNP is also known as Te (Ricccardo Rocca), or it is only known by the researchers of the project?

    One other question:
If it is also known to you, it has also been found in other samples (for example: "1000 Genomes PROJECT")?

It is an SNP that has been found now in several other studies even outside of this one. By unclassified, I meant that it still has not been given a 'Z' code.

I'm hoping for U152* and a haplotype matching mine.

This question might be a bit premature, but will the results of the full genome sequences change the status of the 6 unclassified U152 samples i.e. is it possible to see if the GoNL samples are positive for the new FGS SNPs?

A relation can only be inferred. For example, above I wrote that for L2, there are ..."and 4 others belong to a yet unclassified SNP below L2(xZ49,Z367)". This is the SNP group that were in GailT's sample as well.

Thanks. I'm asking because of Chromo2, if there are U152* samples in GoNL I will order Chromo2, if there are none I won't order it.

Unfortunately, there really is no way of knowing based on how the GoNL has made their data available up to this point (no phylogenetic tree).

That's a shame. Hopefully future entry-level products by Full Genomes Inc. will be a better option for the U152*-group.

Very interesting! Is there any data on other haplogroups and their frequencies from this as well? I cannot access the paper.
