Forgive me if this has been posted already, but I'm curious to know who these Bronze Age Hungarians were. They were Y-haplogroup J carrying, autosomally very Western-like, but who do they represent, population-wise? They appear to peak in Slavic countries, Wales, and Italy. Were they Anatolian Farmers, Hunter Gatherers or? How did these genetics get so heavy in Britain? I'm interested to hear you guys thoughts. Thanks!
"They were"? I think it's only one male sample. J2 probably never reached Britain in any quantity, but Romans probably carried it to some degree. Late Neolithic central Europe was already western looking (by modern standards) in 2500 BC. I wouldn't think much of a single male J2 sample. If indeed, J2 males ushered in the Bronze Age, it's rather clear their genetics made little impact during the Bronze period of northern Europe.Originally Posted by Garimund
