It's hard. He doesn't do it much and only if you have a case for an "interesting" ancestry. In my case it's the Indian ancestry that probably got him to give it a try.

You can find his email from here: https://isogg.org/wiki/McDonald's_BGA_project.

So, odd coincidence that I never realized. I knew he was a prof of Chemistry at UIUC where I got my Ph.D. Never met him over there as far as I knew. But did not realize until I stumbled on it looking for the above link, that he also did nano work, which is what I specialize in among a few things.

Both cases the oracle really doesn't seem to like the ME component. Out of curiosity, the Iranian matches, are they on Genesis by any chance?

Yes, he did take a look at mine. Personally, I was not so impressed. For one he stated simply that I am "English" because that's where I was on the PCA he has, despite the fact that PCAs don't work for picking out small components usually. He also stated that I had a lot of ME segments but was pretty dismissive of the origin; ascribing it to "probably Mediterranean". These results don't agree well with the other results that I have which have painted a pretty consistent picture. And that includes having a Punjabi Jatt fellow with whom I triangulate (I worked out the chances that we aren't related as being in the range of one in half-a-billion).

Totally agree. It is a pretty fun puzzle to work on indeed! I still hold out hope I may find the paper trail to confirm it. I already have a candidate ancestor, but his situation is a little ambiguous.
Oh cool, the new run does look even more correct.

    Thanks again.

Yes, the Iranian matches are on Gedmatch's Genesis One to Many tool, need to jot them down the next time I renew my Tier 1 Membership.

Well, DNA testing kits were one of the biggest Holiday gifts last month and I am guessing that when people get their results finally, there should be a lot of fresh new distant cousins to discover and help with the puzzle pieces.

    Good luck with finding yours!

Unfortunately the Iranian kits at Genesis, which were uploaded by Khanabadoshi, are not good quality. We've had a long discussion about them a while back: https://anthrogenica.com/showthread....l=1#post301453. Heck, I have one where I match at 32cM! At that level of match I ought to be including this person in my holiday card mailing list!

Yes, indeed, the more that test the better the situation will hopefully become. Assuming enough migrate their data off the proprietary platforms of the commercial testing sites.
