I think that Northern Belarusians have significant Baltic admixture. What about adding West-Central Russians? Belgorod-Kursk-Bryansk-Smolensk-Oryol etc. areas. Are they "purely" Slavic?

I'd recommend to not use generic pops for South asian component. Maybe some tribal samples?

Is Kalash a good proxy for Iranian peoples?

I believe they tend to use Makrani/Brahui/Baloch samples for populations in and around Iran..

I agree that for better distinction from Balts it would be better to exclude Northern Belarussians. I think West-Central Russians should be included. For Ukrainian I would choose northern Ukrainians. I've read that southern Ukrainians seem to be more admixed with non-Slavic populations: "In South Ukraine diversity is just more vivid, because there you can find Ukrainians of non-Ukrainian origin, i.e. ethnic Greeks, Bulgarians, Gagauz, Crimean Tatars, etc". To sum up: Southern Belarus, Northern Ukraine and West-Central Russia (Belgorod-Kursk-Bryansk-Smolensk-Oryol) seem reasonable for Slavic reference to me.

I think with this people will be clamouring to say why their pet populations should be included and others excluded. K100 anyone?

Great idea! Thank you for the new calculator!

A suggestion I would add is the East-Med component. For my perspective, I don't believe Maltese and Sicilian are adequate markers for this regions, as they are located in the West-Central Mediterranean and most probably have (slightly) higher (but still minimal) North African components that other East-Med populations might not have, potentially skewing the results. The Cypriots is a good reference population, perhaps Levantine and Greek could be other reference populations for East-Med as they are located in the E.Med? Again, this is just a suggestion

Additionally, when can we expect this calculator to be released on GedMatch?

Are you shure that it's possible to separate Mordvins, Belarussians and Balts? I got a fear that it may all work out just as Myheritage's predictions for East-Euros.
