Need to nag FTDNA about free Y111 upgrades

In regard to the promised free Y111 upgrade for those who order the Big Y during the current discount sale...

On November 30, FTDNA wrote in regard to a missing free upgrade:
    ---
Right now it is a manual process, so if you come across any others let us know and we can order it.
    ---

That's disturbing in itself. It means that we have to nag FTDNA to order the free upgrades--FTDNA may not do so itself.

But it gets worse. Last week I nagged FTDNA about eight Y111 upgrades for Big Y tests batched on November 27 and 29 (batches 806 and 807). On Friday afternoon (December 8), FTDNA responded:
    ---
I have forwarded your email to the appropriate person. He is manually adding the Y-111.
    ---

As of Monday evening (December 11), the free upgrades have still not been ordered.

I've seen most in my L513 project get the Y111 upgrade added within 5-7 business days but I have seen one that did NOT get the upgraded 10 business days later. I sent a note into FTDNA groups help and the order appeared that afternoon. I've been told of another such situation in the project.

Double checking is good. Shouldn't be needed but it is.

Today, I asked FTDNA about a project member who has only 12 markers. This was the response:
    ---
Thank you for your email, If he purchases the Big Y test, he would qualify for the YDNA 111.
    ---

If this holds in general, it is "huge" for those with only 12 markers.

It's holds. People in the R1b project are saying they are doing this. In fact, people have said they've ordered brand new Y37's and then within a few days ordered the Big Y to take advantage.

I have also heard the recommendation to order Y12 through a project (which I guess can still be done), then wait a few days and order the Big Y. I don't know about this last one.

In any case, people are having trouble with any of these upgrades should call FTDNA directly as soon they can. I think if you tell them what you want to do, they will help. These are not so difficult problems (i.e. taking orders) versus solving a technical results issue.

A project member just did this. He already had Family Finder results. He ordered Y12, then--after that order was officially marked as batched and pending--he ordered the Big Y. I am hoping that he, too, will get the free Y111 upgrade.

You are correct that even a new customer can order Y-DNA12 through a project.

People outside North America, and/or whose first language is not English, have difficulty making phone calls to the United States. That's why they contact me instead.

One of my project members who had only 37 markers and ordered the Big Y has already received his 111-marker upgrade. Big Y results still pending.

Couple of days after ordering bigY there was no sign of this 111 upgrade, then I was notified via email and turns out I'll see the results after a month or so, and for the bigY around March.

I've posted on another thread I've upgraded from 67 to 111 (done Big Y).
I hope something comes out of this which may possibly increase the potential number of matches which would be good for everyone including FTDNA.

I'm in a similar boat, I ordered Big Y with the free Y111 upgrade offer and Y111 was batched just two days after my Big Y batching and it only took a few weeks for the Y111 results. Hopefully there aren't multiple delays on this batch of Big Ys.
