FTDNA U152 Project is interviewing to fill Co-Administrator Positions

As the FTDNA U152 Project continues to grow, the administrators are putting into place a plan to maintain it's long-term sustainability. To better serve our members, the staff is in the process of reorganizing (i.e. updating project procedures and administrator duties; and expanding the number administrators)

The reorganization includes having volunteer administrators to effectively manage all of the U152 subclades:

We have filled the following positions, which covers 2/3rd's of the project members assigned to subclades:
U152> L2> Z367: Steve Gilbert, Lead Project Administrator
    U152> L2> Z49: Mark Mitchell (me)
    U152> ZZ45: (includes Z36): Tibor Fehér
U152> Z56: Vincent van der Heijden

We are in/will be in discussions to fill these co-admin positions. In some cases we just need to confirm existing co-admins are willing and able to perform additional duties associated with this reorganization. In other cases, we need new co-administrators.

    U152> L2> DF103 + DF110 + ZZ48 (11% of the project)
    U152> L2> Z41150 xZ49 (9% of the project)
    U152> Z193, PF6658 (7% of project)
    U152> L2 xDF103, DF110, Z367, DF90, Z41150, ZZ48 (4% of project)
    U152 xL2, Z193, Z56, ZZ45: (2% of project)

The above groupings are not set in stone. For example we would be amenable to someone who wanted to be the administrator for ZZ48 (4% of project), and the last two groups (10% total)...or just the last two groups (6%) together.

    Required qualifications:
    1. Basic knowledge of the U152 phylogeny (haplotree structure)
    2. Basic understanding of how to read/interpret SNP and STR test results (but we don't expect you to know it all when you start)
    3. No hidden agendas...ability to be impartial/unbiased, working for the common good of the project and its members.
    4. Ability to access the internet on a regular basis (we understand life events happen e.g. vacations, family emergencies etc. and have procedures to cover these periods)
    5. Willingness to dedicate ~1-4 hours per week (sometimes more, often less) to the analysis and assignment of members to your U152 subclade(s).
    6. Ability to read and converse in the English language.

    Preferred qualifications:
    Member of the U152 haplogroup

    Duties:
    1. Analyze Y-dna test results to determine proper placement of new/existing members
    2. If applicable, assign new members to the appropriate group within your subclade(s)
    3. If required, create a new group and assign new/existing members to this group
    4. Answer member's questions (if you don't know the answer, ask one of your fellow admin for assistance)
    5. Maintenance of your Subclade(s) maps. This not a current duty but we are working towards the goal of each admin maintaining their own maps. I just took over map maintenance duties from Steve Gilbert for all the Z49 & Subclade maps. It's not a difficult task and we will have written procedures to walk you through it.

    Support you will receive:
    1. You will not be alone. You will be part of a team and our knowledgeable staff is there to support you and answer your questions.
    2. We fully understand that like us, you are a volunteer and have a life outside of the project. We are thankful for the time you can dedicate to support the project and maintain your subclade(s).
    3. We have written step-by-step training procedures to guide you through all of your frequently performed duties.

    Benefits:
    1. As a citizen scientist you be helping to expand the knowledge of the U152 Haplogroup and Subclades Phylogeny by the discovery of new SNPs, the study of their point of origins and their probable migration routes.
    2. Access to ~25 FTDNA project reports and analysis tools not available to the general public.
    3. Pride of ownership. You will be in charge of quality, maintenance, and accuracy of your subclade(s) within the project.

If you are interested or want more information just ask in this thread or PM me or email lead admin Steve Gilbert [email protected]

    Regards,

Mark Mitchell, FTDNA U152 Project Administrator

    Ciao Mark Mitchell,
despite my work commitments, I could try to do something for the group. Unfortunately I don't know English well and I have to use translators (like google). My answers would be very slow and so I'm not sure I have all the right credentials to do what you ask for. In case I was compatible I could follow my group, ZZ48 and some other small group. Let me know

    Update:

Timothy Peterman is transitioning from being our L20 subclade admin to our General Administrator in charge of answering general questions and disseminating project information such as:
    - BigY, SNP Packs, STR upgrades sales
    - New procedures, new admins, new maps, new stats, etc
    - Telling members about the importance of inviting their same Ht and same surname matches and those that have been tested U152+ or better to join the project if not done already
    - Telling members about the importance of taking the time to map their ancestor origin location, to fill the fields correctly and to upload or create their genealogical tree.
    - One bulk e-Mails every few months (beside sales)
    -etc.

And connecting members to their subclade administrator for testing advice and other subclade specific discussions.
