    Is anyone else a little bit surprised that so many samples from Collegno actually plot with modern Central and South Italians rather than with their northern counterparts?
    Szólád's samples also include some "very southern" individuals who are not the norm in southern Europe even today.

    well the longobards/northerners must have had an impact as well, per isotopic analysis they seem to have stayed; as i understand it CL25/30/121/38 were the locals at the early phase 570-640ad with CL36 being the local (dead and buried) at the later period 700-800ad closer to the modern north italians and with some CEU+GBR lacking in the previous locals; that might have been the progression and pos the roman era pop as the mycenaeans also seemed very southern/east-med shifted;
