    Caucasus results in S. Italians

I'm sure this was posted before but I just wanted a little more info on this topic if possible. So mainly my family is southern Italian Naples and Sicily Palermo. The results I expected was of course North African/Middle East but the Caucasus part I'm still trying to figure out. Could this be a result from the caucasus greeks in that region or maybe byzantine era occupation of southern Italy? Or could part of my ancestry come an actual country in the caucasus such as Armenia or Georgia? Any help with this topic would be much appreciated. I uploaded some results from gedmatch as a reference.

Seems like caucasus farmers (high in haplogroup J2) invaded SE Europe (to a less degree the Balkans, and other parts of Europe). Probably in the late Bronze Age or beginning of Iron Age. In turn, the near-east also received this ancestry and is thus also very high in this Caucasus component, there is also this near-east input that contributed to the "caucasus" component of SE Europe.

It's very common for Southern Italians to have the Caucasus component. It's probably in the form of Anatolian.

Based on your GEDmatch result, you're less shifted to the Caucasus/West Asia than most Sicilians. Must be due to your Neapolitan side having some sort of affinity to Central Italy or mainland Greece (10% Baltic implies input from the Balkans to me).

You could have Greek or Albanian ancestry, since you're from the South. It's possible. What are your family names? Some Southern Italian names derive from Greek namee.

I see, well since my moms side has been in palermo, sicily for as long as I know which was mainly Phoenician I'll leave that side out. Anyways my dads side has the last names Ruggiano and his mom was Delbeato. I recently did some digging and found out my Haplogroup which is J2a1b1 M92.
