From wiki that might explain r1b in China.

"The foreign element, although greatly diluted, came primarily from Persian (Bosi) traders, who brought Islam to China. These foreigners settled and gradually intermarried, converting them to Islam, while assimilating Chinese culture"

It's okay Romilius-no need to worked up-it will all be resolved. Just give it a little time. What a great thread a Hui clan and Palestinian clan may be linked, by ydna.

We still do not know for certain if Afanasievo culture is R1b and if so what branch. We also don't know ydna from samples like Cherchen man from Zaghunluq near the town of Qiemo (Cherchen) in the Taklamakan Desert, Xinjiang,

We do know R1b was present among Afanasievans (Hollard 2014, thesis), two of them were M269+, third was P297+. I've checked STRs with Nevgen long ago, and IIRC all three should've been Z2103. There was also one P297+ from Bol'shemis, and one M269+ from Okunevo culture.

? Confused, by the time of your post we had R1b in Afanasevo, now we have even more. Time and place are crucial, you didn't have a mass exodus of westerners moving into southern Siberia at the time, so I suspect the cultures and therefore the people, are one and the same. It appears some later western cultures moved into the general area who may or may not have been directly related to the earlier wave. These males are tested as R1a1.

I would test L277 or L584, as those are far more common in the Middle East than this Chinese fellow here.
