You will get populations that are similar as well as your real ancestry. I think English have a more southern pull than other Isles populations which shows on Gedmatch calculators. IBD would most probably have to be used for real ancestry. I enjoy the calculators and G25 etc but I don't take them as gospel just an indication of what your dna look like i.e. if you get something other than expected it doesn't mean real ancestry just that you have a eastern pull or southern pull etc. I usually get a small percentage of a Caucasus population in calcs but this is just how the calculators break down my dna. Usually Insular Celt, Scandinavian and a small percentage of some Caucasus pop. This is pretty uniform for me on nearly every calculator.
Maybe, but I remarked in a previous post that it's interesting that some of my distant matches are from the same regions I am pulled towards: not just Scandinavia, but North and East Europe e.g. Belarus, Finland.

I know MyHeritage matches aren't accurate, but I also got matches from Finland, Belarus (and Sweden) on 23andme. I know FTDNA estimates are not considered accurate, but there's definitely a trend.

I know you have said this about a southern shift. I do get small amounts of southern France within my results:

I guess it's a haircutting exercise, in this G25 plot (made by Ph2ter) some Irish, Scotts, Icelanders, Dutch and Scandic come all very close!

Scots are slightly more eastern than Irish but 75% of time they are indistinguishable in G25:

Jessie falls within the Scottish category so this canít be representative of ancestry.

Come on the place on the G25 PCA somewhere in NW doesn't mean she can’t be representative of ancestry. IMO this is even quit offensive....

Finn falls within the Iceland/Danish category so he can't be representative of ancestry.
Fionsneatcha falls within the Danish category so can't be representative of ancestry
    etc

No she has Irish ancestry! And because there is an enormous overlap in the NW so you can't state, based on a G25 PCA, if she is representative because of that.

If she would plot in the Greece corner (for example) it would be a different story.
