Those of us who got screwed up estimates are going to be vocal about that while those who are happy about their estimate are shrugging their shoulders.
I'm obviously not saying you shouldn't be unhappy. I've also noted the ways in which the update is not working for some people. I'm saying what is screwed up about it is not that you don't get Caucasus (you shouldn't, if Ancestry is doing what it is trying to do), but that you don't get Italian in anywhere near the correct levels.

Mine has updated now as well. I lost the following -

    Europe West 38%
    Scandinavia 7%
    Iberian Peninsula <1%
    Finland/Northwest Russia <1%

    And now they are -

England, Wales and North-Western Europe 74% (increased by 48%)
Ireland and Scotland 26% (decreased by 1%)

My migration, "Northern England and the Midlands", remains.

Much of my ancestry comes from the overlapping region between these two groups so this is certainly an accurate result, my ancestry basically being around 74% English and around 26% Irish, Welsh, possible Scottish and unknown.

My update also came through, just happened to check it this morning after about a week of not logging in. There was no email to notify I had the update:

    Myself:
    Old results -
    Europe West - 39%
    Great Britain - 38%
    Ireland/Scotland/Wales - 15%
    Scandinavia - 4%
    European Jewish - 1%
    Europe East - <1%
    Asia Central - <1%
    Caucasus - <1%

    New results -
    England, Wales & NW Europe - 69%
    Ireland & Scotland - 23%
    Germanic Europe - 2%
    Norway - 3%
    Sweden - 3%

    My son:
    Old results -
    Europe West - 34%
    Great Britain - 14%
    Ireland/Scotland/Wales - 8%
    Scandinavia - 1%
    European Jewish - 2%
    Europe East - <1%
    Asia Central - 1%
    Caucasus - 1%
    Benin/Togo - 11%
    Africa SE Bantu - 7%
    Nigeria - 6%
    Cameroon/Congo - 2%
    Ivory Coast/Ghana - 2%
    Europe South - 2%
    Finland/NW Russia - 3%
    Mali - 1%
Africa SC Hunter Gatherers - <1%
    Asia South - <1%

    New results:
    England, Wales & NW Europe - 50%
Cameroon, Congo & Southern Bantu Peoples - 17%
    Ireland & Scotland - 11%
    Benin & Togo - 6%
    Mali - 6%
    Germanic Europe - 5%
    France - 2%
    Baltic States - 2%
    Norway - 1%

I would say in my case more accurate, but I did expect to see a little France in there...since it's northern France maybe it is rolled into the England/Wales/NW Europe grouping.
My son's dad was adopted & we only know very little about his background so cannot attest to accuracy or not in his case. Seems his African DNA is more set now than it was though.

There as of course lots of migration into south Wales during and after the Industrial Revolution. I don't really know what communities their mixed descendants would get. But not all of south Wales saw the same level of migration from the south of England or elsewhere. I'm referring specifically to people who can trace their families to rural areas and beyond the industrial revolution and who see an unexpected Southern England community.

I don't think Ancestry can/ will do much on precision - Living DNA is already doing better on accurate identification of regions for those regions where their sample sizes are sufficient. But Ancestry can do better on the interpretation of the communities people get.
All 32 3xgreat grandparents were Welsh. Two 6xgreat grandparents from England and a few Irish or English surnames before 1800. Paper trail shows several C11th to C14th Anglo-Norman lines and C11th Norse-Irish lines.

I don’t think the communities for Ireland need to be refined. For Ulster which is tiny, I have been given three breakdowns, each region 30 miles wide.

Scotland and England needs more accuracy and more communities. Although it may be hard to do that there as people move around a lot

Definitely not impressed by the update and the further merging of regions - I thought a update would become more specific.

With the update I lost all of my South European estimates which before have been around 15 %, all other companies give me an estimate of even 30-40 % Mediterranean. And according to this update I'm basically only half British, half Germanic. But I do have several Italian ancestors for sure...
