I'm trying to get her paternal aunt to do an Ancestry test to see what she gets. There is no known person from Ulster that we are aware of but anything is possible. It's strange though that Connacht didn't show up as that is where my father was from. Also there doesn't appear to be any Leinster GCs that I can find which is odd as that is where the majority of the Irish population is and where half my daughter's dna would be from. If you go to Ireland/Scotland/Wales it says there are 24 regions but when you click on it there is only 20 regions.

That's my daughter. She does appear to be more southern shifted though and on every Gedmatch matches an English region whereas myself and family get Orcadian, Ireland, North Dutch etc. She consistently gets an English region though and comes up with more southern areas of Europe.

In my trace regions I got 3% Europe East, 2% Europe West, 2% Great Britain, 1% Scandinavia and 1% European Jewish and of course on the upgrade I now am 100% Ireland/Scotland.

Here's Ancestry DNA's region map for it:

(You can get to all the gradient maps for your regions by clicking on the region name in the list, then clicking "Continue reading", then clicking on "Read More", which also gives you a bunch of historical background info on the region, and has another tab that compares your result to a "typical native" of the region in question.)
Ancestry paper trail tally: 21.1% Colonial American (British Isles, German, Dutch, Swiss, French), 14.1% not traced past 19th Century United States (MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA), 7.8% Canadian (Ontario & Quebec), 40.6% German, 15.6% Czech, 0.8% British & Irish

Where are her ancestors from in Leinster? Ulster East community actually extends down through Louth, Monaghan, Cavan and Dublin.

Like that North Midlands is grouped with Ulster Ireland. There are genetic communities for Leinster but they cross into other areas. The Southern Ireland community includes a lot of Leinster so that could cover yours and her father's ancestry.

That's what happened to me also. I got 5% Iberian and, to my knowledge, I have zero known ancestors from there (and it doesn't show up in any other test.)

It's not just Ulster East though. It's merely a handy name put on the region rather than listing out every single county covered. The 'Galway' region covers the vast amount of County Roscommon. I've attached an image for you to see.

They are all from the Wexford & Dublin areas but a lot of families don't know their history going back too far back. They have a family tree but I don't think they have gone back as far as I have for my family tree.

Is that from the new update? Looks good.

I also get Ulster despite not having ancestry from there. I figured that might come from British blood but evidently it stretches pretty far South that it might be accurate.
