Like I said, my mom who is 50% English + Ulster Protestants, and then 25% each German/Swiss and Swedish, got 97% Great Britain.

My Results. Not great but not terrible. I was glad to see my Amerindian percentage remain. The Amerindian region assigned is actually consistent with the one assigned by MyHeritage (Mesoamerican and Andean) which is interesting but also confusing. Edit: Didn't mean to attach a PDF, so I would prefer that be removed if possible.

My mother finally got her results:
    Europe 100%
    Western Europe

    Central Europe 50%
    Great Britain 25%
    Ireland 15%
    Scandinavia 9%
    Eastern Europe
    Magyar <2%

    MINE:
    Europe 96%
    Western Europe

    Great Britain 43%
    Ireland 25%
    Central Europe <1%
    Eastern Europe
    Magyar 16%
    West Slavic 9%
    European Jewish
    Ashkenazi Jewish 2%
    Middle East 4%
    Middle East

    Anatolia, Armenia, & Mesopotamia <5%
My father has never had any European Jewish ancestry in any calculator, be it Ancestry, 23andMe, Origins 1.0 or 2.0 or any Gedmatch or Davidski calculator. My mother had 1% in her Origins 1.0 and 2. The only thing I can figure is the European Jewish may be a proxy for part of my 12.5% Italian (Molise) ancestry. The same with the measure representing Anatolia, Armenia, & Mesopotamia. My mother has significant Central Europe (50%) and this is actually accurate , if it is a proxy for Germanic, as my mother is about 1/2 German ancestry. My Central Europe though is greatly understated, with Great Britain serving as a replacement for much of my German ancestry. Overall, I would say Origins 3.0 is rather accurate for my mother, not so much for me.

Paper trail ancestry to the best of my knowledge:
English (possibly containing some Welsh ancestry) 31.25%, Scottish 17.96%, Scotch-Irish 12.5%, Eastern German 12.5%, Eastern European (Likely Polish possibly including Romanian) 12.5%, French 7.81%, Native American (Saulteaux and Assiniboine) 2.34%, and Colonial American, 3.125%, which cannot be traced with certainty. With certainty, there is Dutch (at least 1.36%) and some English.

The results for myself and my parents came out okay. LivingDNA was more aligned with "prior knowledge", but FTDNA's result is still justifiable. I think in our case it's because LivingDNA is more prepared to discern the fine variation between English and related continental populations.

MyOrigins seems to work okay for some people and fail badly for others. It appears they did not do very much QA on this update. Quantitative analysis has always been a weak point for FTDNA.

It's also disappointing in light of the fact that the "proprietary technology" between companies isn't super secret. All they have to do is spy a bit on the white paper from other providers, current academia, and pay attention to genome bloggers.

My cousin who lives in Northern Ireland has fairly low Central Europe stats compared to me (27% difference), and a good portion of our shared ancestry from the entirety of Ulster is likely originally from Scotland. My more closely related relatives from this same lineage who live in my area also have relatively low Central Euro and GB stats compared to the Ireland category at FTDNA.

For myself and few of my other matches with ancestry from Great Britain we score either 0 or slightly more (but still rather low, and in my case 0%) in the Great Britain category at FTDNA. It's rather strange to me...

Here, the original claim was that the Great Britain category is largely "Celtic" and that doesn't seem to be true.
Wasn't the claim that the British Isles category of 2.0 was "Celtic"?
