    MyOrigin 3.0 Update?

Is there any news regarding myorigin 3.0? Or have they fully given up to the competition?

It seems that MyOrigins has been recently updated ( I say "it seems" because I'm not very attentive to it). In any case I'm now 78% British Isles, against 40% or so the last time I looked. Rule Britannia !

Its been the same results for me for over a year now, every since they rolled out MyOrigins 2.0 in April 2017. Not sure about a 3.0 version, in fact I'm not even sure if Razib Khan is still working for FamilyTreeDNA?

There is no update for me. I doubt FTDNA will release a MyOrigins 3.0, the company has a terrible reputation and is very unpopular.

They're considered the worst of the "big 3" companies, notorious for giving crazy and often inaccurate ethnicity results. FTDNA was a testing partner of National Geographic's Geno 2.0, who also had a European company known as IGENEA which ripped people off.

I disagree with this assessment. The only area where they are severely lacking is their "myOrigins" ethnicity estimator - it is pretty bad, for sure. For genetic genealogy, they are among the top companies, mainly because their matching is superb (they have the longest experience of any company in developing matching protocols) and the people in their database are very responsive and helpful. Where else to do get direct email addresses of matches? Their Y-str matching is incredible - yes, its not so good for fine-scale Y subclades, but with a daabase of almost 600,000 Y-str testers, they are the place to go for surname studies. And AFAIK they are the only company with a large database of testers for both Y and mtDNA. For genetic genealogy, and for comparing your haplogroup and subclade to your matches' most distant ancestors, they can't be beat. Finally, as I am still waiting on my Big-Y results, I can't comment, but with their database I am looking forward to seeing in more detail the geographic origins of my subclade and surname.
