I think there needs to be some kind of IBD in there or it's just going to pick the best fit, which isn't necessarily going to show a person of European descent where their countries of ancestry are.

Thanks for posting the results of your family, it's a great point of reference when comparing these results.
Maybe companies sometimes feel the need to "update" just for the sake of it? The end result may be worse than the original, like a classic car look getting a "makeover."

It really depends on the person. For me they are both worse than Ancestry and 23andMe. Maybe the MyHeritage update will be an improvement.

They also are bad in different ways for me. Currently, FTDNA gives my family ancestry we (mostly) have, but just can't seem to separate Scandinavian from C Europe (a category that seems too large anyway) from Great Britain. My Heritage just seems to include small percentages of a bunch of ancestries that we don't have, and not in a consistent way at all. For example, my dad has no Iberian ancestry, but gets 9% at MyHeritage. (Neither my sister nor I get any.) My sister gets 5.6% Ashkenazi, when she doesn't get that anywhere else (and it's supposed to be easy to pick out). My mom and dad both get Balkan (3.5%, 4.5%), which my sister and I don't, and which none of us typically gets elsewhere. My mom scores 6% Greek and South Italian, which is inconsistent with other results. Generally I don't care about trace regions, but these are higher than that.

Irish is just most likely more Bell Beaker not so much Celtic and all the Isles has this dna. I think their dna is very similar with Britain having more Continental dna. I think using Celtic is probably a bit anachronistic now. I'm not an advocate of Celtic / Anglo-Saxon split. I think it is all on a continuum but all the Isles populations are very similar.

Just to add to your excellent points, I wanted to say that I really enjoy seeing results like this which are trying to find a best fit from various similar populations. They're not necessarily accurate but they do show us that individuals from the same population can be modeled by taking percentages from the surrounding regions, which tells us these populations are all very similar indeed.
Similarly to a global 25 run using all populations, it produces scattered results that often contain populations we don't descend from. However in G25 we can choose the populations we model with to get around this problem
Paper trail ancestry to the best of my knowledge:
English (possibly containing some Welsh ancestry) 31.25%, Scottish 17.96%, Scotch-Irish 12.5%, Eastern German 12.5%, Eastern European (Likely Polish possibly including Romanian) 12.5%, French 7.81%, Native American (Saulteaux and Assiniboine) 2.34%, and Colonial American, 3.125%, which cannot be traced with certainty. With certainty, there is Dutch (at least 1.36%) and some English.

Well I have been given Croatian where there are none!
I have some Sorbs who were Slavic living in Lusatia (~Saxony).
Historically they were only part of the tribe: the rest went south to around Croatia.
That is where they have their reference for Sorbs and so they call mine Balkan.

Thank goodness I know some history and the quirks of these ethnicity estimates!

I found the Druze very bizarre I have no idea where that comes from i don’t really get Semitic groups ever in DNA test. Seems very out of left field. I also lost my 2% West African which is weird.

Bit shit. 21% Centrral Europe is odd, as is the Asian allocation. My new least accurate result, after 23andme.

    Great Britain:56%
    Central Europe:21%
Southeast Asia: Laos, Vietnam & Cambodia:15%
    Northern Han:4%
    Mongolia:<2%
    Eastern India:
    <2%

Same here for a kit I manage. More than 3 percent Ashkenazi without any trace of it genealogically, with any custom test or by other companies. On the other hand people with Ashkenazi ancestry don't get it. They fail in this respect and are otherwise worse too. Too much oracle-like. Which is a pity, because their site is great in many respects and they have a better data base for Europeans.
