    R1b modals for the Big Y 500?

Is anyone (such as Mike W) ploughing through the Big Y 500 STR marker results to look for any R1b subclade modals among the 111-500 panel? This could be very helpful, so I would encourage those with the capability of doing so to run the numbers.

There are already two active threads on this issue:

Unfortunately, Y500 is only available per FTDNA project. This means that there will not be any comprehensive Y500 spreadsheet since these markers will not be posted in the standard FTDNA YSTR reports. Also, you have to download one Y500 result at a time as well. The other posts show my summary of L226 which has 112 Y500 testers to date (it is now 115 since the posts).

Thanks to Robert Casey being kind enough to share his Big Y data, I have 161 Y500 testers collected. I don't think that's yet a representative sample certainly not across all major haplogroups, but it's a start.

    These 161 testers are heavily weighted toward P312 in R1b (128 are in P312) so I can't calculate a R1b modal but I can get at least a preliminary P312 modal. I'll note my estimated P312 modal for the 112-561 STR set only differs from Robert's calculated L226 modal at 7 markers: DYS538, FTY214, FTY191, FTY201, FTY112, FTY145, and FTY800.

A spreadsheet with the analysis of the 161 kits, including preliminary mutation rates as well as the calculated P312 modal, is at https://drive.google.com/open?id=1eI...K1MwVH0wpK7Mph.
