Again Chaldean refers to people belonging to the Chaldean Catholic church, not a separate ethnicity.
But you know what I think it’s for the best if we end this discussion regarding ”mountain christians”(xD) here

This is an old post by Razib Khan. I thought it was interesting but not sure how it all stacks up today.

Just read a few chapters of John Relethford’s Reflections of Our Past: How Human History is Revealed in Our Genes, very interesting book (broader sweep than most works in this genre)-but I found the chapter titled Invasions, Settlements and Irish History, somewhat surprising. The author recounts his analysis of both anthropometric & genetic data, and asserts that:

    1) there is a west to east cline or gradient.
    2) four midland counties, Roscommon, Leitrim, Longford and Westmeath are outliers from the main axis.

My first thought was that these counties were genetically isolated from the impact of various exogenous settlers, whether that be pre-historical (Fir Bolg? Milesian?) or more recentl (Viking, Norman, English, etc.). But, Rethelfod says that the anthropometric & genetic data points to a Scandinavian connection! Look at the map of Ireland and you note that the Shannon river allows an avenue of intercourse from the coast up into the heart of Ireland, and there are records of Viking warlords making their way inland and settling down.4

I remember reading Relethford's book quite a few years ago and think he had some genetic data going from memory.

The title of the book was called Reflections Of Our Past: How Human History Is Revealed In Our Genes

Yes Finn... I was thinking especially the early Unetice sample from Jinonice near Prague (he was positive for the major S1911 sub group of DF98 while Wettin is positive for the other major group under DF98) and that the Unetice had probably a center of power somewhere in Northern Germany or in the North (Nebra Sky disk and what not) and remember this map I posted a while back for amber trade early and then middle Bronze Age - moves west right ;-). Where is that western blue blob of Unetice located... when I pull up a map of Europe and compare (so basically a straight line running down from the eastern edge of the Denmark down into Germany) that western most blob of blue marking Unetice location is actually right on top of the area around the Saale/Thuringia close to where Wettin is ;-). urn cambridge.org id binary-alt 20171206094751-62161-optimisedImage-S0003598X17001806_fig6g.jpg
