I am from near Amreli in Saurashtra. So maybe there is difference among Kathiwari/Saurashtra Patels as well. It's smack dab in peninsular Gujarat. A little farther out from the rest of the subcontinent. Harder for other groups to enter and leave DNA impact on them.

Reviewed some of that OPís matches on GEDmatch Genesis and found the surnames Makadia, Patel and Kelkar. So, Kelkar is supposedly Brahmin (Marathi) but what about Makadia?

Is Kelkar also used by non Brahmins?

The OP seems to be mixed Brahmin Patel. His matches and results points towards that.

His Harappa is pretty similar to my V3 minus my East Asian/Siberian shift.

    GBR+Patel~ South Indian Brahmin

Interesting how his closest population on the Harappa World Oracles are Meghwals, who are a Scheduled Caste population in Gujarat, but outliers due to not being overly AASI shifted.

Makadia is a gotra of the Kamar caste in Central/West India, a scheduled caste. There are Kamars all the way from Gujarat to Bengal, but I don't know if they are the same caste. Ones in western regions are presumed to be related to Gonds, while Bengali ones are blacksmith and considered shudra.

I seem to share some segments on Gedmatch, with a Patel individual that scores exactly like a Tamil Brahmin on Harappa World (with a distance to the reference at 2.2). Patidars may be more diverse genetically than presumed.

The Meghawal samples on Harappa are from Rajasthan I believe.

Is Makadia also used by Brahmins? I’ve asked someone I know personally and they’ve stated it’s used by both Patidars and Brahmins. What about Kelkar?
