I just deleted my 23andme data

I read a NEWS a couple of days ago that 23andme is sharing users data with big pharma companies. I read some tweets from Spencer Wells. and realized that it's not a good move. Hence, I deleted my data from the site.

I deleted my data from 23andMe because their site is garbage and highly politicized.
I don't trust their them or results one bit.
I suggest LivingDNA for non politicized and accurate results.
As for 23andMe being unscrupulous and selling data, I have zero doubt that all DNA testing companies do that or will soon...

How does that help when they still have your sample + all the information you ever provided them stored in a secure place which is out of your reach?

I just received results from livingdna and they are not even third class when it comes to yDNA and mtDNA. And again it costs much more.

I paid $88 USD for my living DNA kit and they're comparable or cheaper than 23andMe and Ancestry, when on sale.
All you need to do is wait for the many yearly sales they have on holidays.
My autosomal results on LivingDNA were far more reliable than 23andMe or my AncestryDNA results.
Anyone that puts out a spit-kit is at risk of having their genomic data stolen or sold to 3rd parties.
Don't test if you're afraid of possible consequences.

    Best company on the market.
I have tested with 23andMe and AncestryDNA and both are garbage in comparison.

I think Jatt1 was pointing out that it is useless to delete your 23andMe data since they still have your data and DNA stored somewhere you cannot reach. It is in some way rather futile to delete your account there...
