The Norwegian Eurogenes samples (k13 etc) are likely from eastern Norway (and so they likely have Swedish ancestry and they are right on the border with Sweden, so overlap is to be expected). As while David says that they (k13) are from southern Norway, I understand that classification as coming from a foreigner (foreigners tend to simplify Norwegian geographic regions into north and south), while Norwegians (me included) divide "southern" Norway into west, east and true south.

See here for eastern Norway: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Norway

I on the other hand was talking about other regional samples within Norway, such as north ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Norway ) and west ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Norway ). Western Norwegians tend to be closer to Orkney and UK than eastern Norwegians, due to a clear southwestern pull that is weaker in eastern Norwegians.

If I am right you should see it more clearly if you run the sample in a calc where western Norwegians are included among the samples... Or for that matter with Icelanders, as Swedes do not cluster with Icelanders either.. I would run it mysef, but Genesis is currently down, so I can do it when it comes back up..

    Update:
So I managed to run TF4194471 in MDLP K23b, MDLP World_22, MDLP World and Euroenes K15 V2 which all have western Norwegians listed in Oracle:

K15 is clearly the odd one out, with MDLP world 22 also being odd, but the oddness correlates with a high mismatch number 4,9 and 4,15, compared to to best match at 2 and 2,85 respectably.. So it makes sense and the best matches both highlight Sweden and not western Norway or Iceland as the close matches..

We can also reverse it, by looking at my own "closeness" to Swedes, which should mirror to some degree at least, the data above:

As you can see, the general pattern is that western Norwegians and Icelanders, are not so close to Swedes as they appear on that PCA..
Alright so here are some West Norwegians using the K23b calculator. They are from Rogaland, Hordaland and Möre och Romsdal.

Now it's pretty obvious from these examples that this calc is pretty lousy. Only one Icelander gets Icelandic as first, and not a single one of the Norwegians get Norwegian_West as top match. The results vary a lot because the components seem to be rather closely related.
Also the majority of all South Swedes get Norwegian or Danish as first match with Eurogenes K15, not Swedish.

Also the majority of all South Swedes get Norwegian or Danish as first match with Eurogenes K15, not Swedish.
I can agree that Oracle is a limited tool for sure, but it is hardly the fault of the calculator..

Maybe the averages are bad then, how else would you explain why these Western Norwegians don't get Norwegian_West as first match?
I think Eurogenes K13/K15 works better for Northern Europeans.

I'm downloading urm160 since he is listed as R1b1a2a1a1... his bam is 4.1 gb so perhaps we can get more resolution?!?

My internet is fairly fast at times (about 12 mins for 4.1gb dl) and I can run bam kit for y-dna - converting .fastq to bam though is beyond my crappy laptop - it took 24 hours to do 3 chromosomes when I tried lol... so for now I'm stuck running bams for y-dna or asking others to convert etc... and collecting data on u106 etc...

maybe I can run the P312 guy through later...

I ran urm160 through bam kit for Y-DNA and despite it being a large bam file 4.1gb - I only saw multiple reads for L11 and P310 etc at the R1b1a2a1a level... about 6 calls for R1b1a2a1a though... so no idea if he is U106 or P312 etc. Thought for sure with the size of the bam we would at least get below L11/P310 etc...

Edit: looked at kls001 and didn't even see the R1 result for him... hmm - bam was very small (370ish mb?) so not surprised. Also looked at the P312 guy 97002 - saw at least three reads/calls for P312/S116 - but nothing immediately below that... 97002's bam was also small size... only 321 mb.

Someone uploaded most samples to Gedmatch.

    https://anthrogenica.com/showthread....l=1#post478131

Some of them has bad genotype rate and maybe because of this in K36 are located differently than on author's PCA. But Generalissimo also said original PCA is not ideal...

    I made K36 PCA nevertheless.

Those who had on K36 Sigtuna PCA very north position are those with elevated North Sea / North Atlantic due to bad genotype rate possibly.
Samples with highest genotype have normal proportions, quite modern.

I have taken a look at the data for urm160. He does in fact belong to R-U106. I have him at:

    R-U106/S21 > Z2265 > Z18 > BY18986

He is positive for most of the mutations in this block and no call for the others. I didn't see any shared mutations with the two men currently attached to this block, kits 345467 and 544423.

In hg19 coordinates, urm160 is positive for:
    Code:
    8359948-C-G	BY18987	1G
    9088476-T-C	BY18988	2C

    22461050-C-T 1T
    22744616-G-C	Y109628	2C
    He has no data for:
    Code:
    2798431-C-T	BY18986
    13136819-C-T	BY18989
    14699574-G-A	BY18991

    19272401-A-G	BY18997
    21718539-C-T	BY18998
I took a look at the P312 guy as well, but didn't see anything downstream. There isn't much data there to work with.

Has anyone checked the BAM file for woman kal006 which is mtDNA hg V7a?
Subgroup V7a1 is very common among saami, and fairly common among finns, and V7a1.
