For eg; Rajbangshi (Koches)/ Rana Tharus of Nepal Terai. So, I guess it will be easy for other landowning Indo-Aryans to push this Rajput origin agenda. Is it really the mainstream Rajputs (Rajasthani) themselves are of multi-ethnic origins?

The Nepali "Thakuri" title is equivalent to the Indian lordship title "Thakur". One of the Kalyal ruler was referred as "Thakur Surti Shahi". Thakuris call their community as Thakuri/Thakur/Rajwar (ruler) community which is an offshoot of Hindu Rajputs according to them, but we see this community has no ethnic affiliations but appears as a class of ruling clans with different cultures. Mono-ethnic groups have single set or similar set of culture afaik. So, I guess it might be similar with Rajputs of South Asia as you say?
For a moment, let us keep aside the consolidation of rajasthan rajputs as a caste in medieval period and reject the opinions of various historians on their origin as amalgamation of various ethnic groups.
If we focus on their harappa results, their SI component range between 35-50 and clearly indicate their origin from multi ethnic groups..fews of them score very similar to meena tribe..some are ditto to meghwals..some population of them are close to base population of brahmin, gujjar, jats etc. I think they are originated from
Many populations including bheels, gonds like tribals as well.

Likely Aaraama dravidas, subsect of Dradiva or Dravidulu brahmin

    1. All 3 surnames are found among Aaraama dravidas
    2. All 3 Kits were together

Dravida Brahmins (or simply Dravidulu) is a sub-caste of the Telugu Brahmins of Andhra Pradesh in South India, who migrated from Tamil Nadu in history.[1] Dravida Brahmins are divided into several sub-sects, which are named after the places in which they have settled such Aaraama Dravidulu, Pudur Dravidulu, Konaseema Dravidulu, Peruru Dravidulu, Tummagunta Dravidulu, and Dimili Dravidulu.[6][7]

So, I could not find my old Harappa results quickly; however, I am HRP0266. Looking at the spreadsheet, Zach had me at 42% SI, 34% Baloch, 8% Caucasian, 7% NE Euro, 2% Mediterranean, 1% each Siberian, Beringian, Papuan, SE Asian, NE Asian, and 1% San.
On GedMatch, it was more like 45% SI, 34% Baloch, 8% NE Euro, 7% Caucasian, 1% SEA, 1% Siberian, 2% Med, and trace amounts of other components (including the cryptic basal African).

It would make sense for me to match a Tunga because the name appears in my relatives list in 23andMe, and my dad's mom's surname was Holla (Kota brahmin). My dad has not been tested. My mom's maternal line is Iyer from the Kaveri delta near Kumbakonam, TN, and my mom's dad was a Palakkad Iyer. So my mtDNA line is Tamil.
