There are two types of Makranis. There's Siddi people (who are also called Makranis). Siddi people are descendants of African slaves. They score very considerable African ancestry. Maybe this is what "your general idea of Makranis" is.

However, there is another group called Makrani. These Makranis are called Makrani because they live in Makran district, Balochistan. Makran is the most Western region of Pakistan. They are essentially Baloch people living in Makran. These are usually the Makranis you see on genetics tests. Siddis are labelled as Siddi.

We have a community of Siddis/Baloch/Makrani people in Karachi. When I visited my grandparents in Karachi, I interacted with them. They are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.

Here is a video of Siddis/Baloch in Pakistan. The famous Abid Shaka is from this place.

Population in the Middle East (Levant, Mesopotamia and Arabian Peninsula) have acquired East-African-related component in their admixtures post Bronze Age, its also present in a minor amount among Iranians and varies by region.
"The results show that since the Bronze Age, an additional East-African-related component was added to the region (on average ∼10.6%, excluding Ethiopian Jews who harbor ∼80% East African component), as well as a European-related component (on average ∼8.7%, excluding Ashkenazi Jews who harbor a ∼41% European-related component). The East-African-related component is highest in Ethiopian Jews and North Africans (Moroccans and Egyptians). It exists in all Arabic-speaking populations (apart from the Druze)."

Makrani == African/Afro-Baloch is a misunderstanding dating to early 20th century Karachi. The British had abolished Slavery in Sindh soon after the conquest of Sindhi in 1850. However, the slave trade continued in Balochistan and Southern Iran until the 20th century. Here's some context from Africa on the Coast of Pakistan

People of African descent are very much a part of the ethnic landscape of Southern Pakistan. BTW, the Sindhi term for Afro-Sindhis is Sheedi - never Siddi, which appears to be a mis-pronunciation of Sheedi much like Shalwar is often mis-pronounced as Salwar. Pakistanis in general use the term Habshi or, mostly in Karachi (and incorrectly), Makrani.

Like I said, there are two types of Makranis. I link some maps this time.

Siddi (also called Makranis, Sheedis etc) are part African and live in South Asia. They are descendants of East African slaves who arrived many centuries ago.

Here is some information about them.
    https://www.google.com/amp/s/hafsakh...an-rhythm/amp/

Shah et al. (2011) observed that Siddis in Gujarat derive 66.90%–70.50% of their ancestry from Bantu forebears, while the Siddis in Karnataka possess 64.80%–74.40% such Southeast African ancestry. The remaining autosomal DNA components in the studied Siddi were mainly associated with local South Asian populations. Siddis in Pakistan are a bit more mixed with Pakistani groups.

Baloch Makrani from Makran are not really part African. They are extremely similar (basically the same)genetically to Baloch. Also, Makran is in Balochistan not Sindh, however some Makranis/Baloch do live in Sindh.

Here is a map of Pakistani Balochistan. You can see the region Makran. The Baloch people who live there are called Makranis obviously.
    https://www.google.com/search?q=map+...ozfaiMdaoLAfVM

Qassim Umar is not Makrani or Siddi. He is half-Kenyan and half Pakistani. This is a very common misconception.

    https://web.archive.org/web/20160304...-World-Cup/1/1
"No, one-drop batsman Qasim Umar was not a Sheedi, he only looked like one because of his Kenyan mother."

I searched around and this sample was posted here before; I recognize it off GEDMatch.com as well. This person's scores do not look anything remotely close to any kind of Baloch tribe, and they are probably some Punjabi with a distant Baloch ancestor on their paternal side, and then some European ancestry in the mix. Nothing remotely similar to any kind of Haryana Jat ancestry either.

Username Sapporo called the scores out before:

Also no Baloch tribe would ever score like a Haryana Jat. That's just absurd. Haryana Jats are Hindu and from an entirely different civilization/realm, anyways, so the possibility of them marrying a Baloch is exceptionally rare.

The only remote chance is this: some people in Southern parts of Punjab have roots in Haryana and Rajasthan, especially certain Jat and Rajput tribes. I've never seen the scores of these individuals, but I doubt they would score like their Hindu counterparts back in India. If the scores from these individuals prove me otherwise, that's fine. But let's say they did score like their Hindu counterparts, and they married a Seraiki Baloch, well that still wouldn't resemble those scores. The Baloch itself is already so low.
