Does her result show any hint of Arab or foreign ancestry? Any insights from the experts on her results will be highly appreciated.
Based on my observation of different results, the West African component stands out here, implying a possible foreign source. It is possible that the source may not be a syed, but some other person . If you want to stretch yourself , you could check on other calculators. For example on Eurogenes K-36, check for Arabian, Near Eastern or North African. For these gedmatch calculators the higher number means more number of sources are considered during the modelling for a finer analysis (but lower accuracy). A Lower numbered calculator would mean lower accuracy, but higher reliability, so you can be very sure of what it says there. Though all this could lead you going down a rabbit hole with no definite answers.

Does her result show any hint of Arab or foreign ancestry? Any insights from the experts on her results will be highly appreciated.
I've bolded components that could be indicative of foreign ancestry.

I'm also a Shia Syed and my results are:

    S-Indian 35.07 Pct
    Baloch 33.09 Pct
    Caucasian 13.98 Pct
    NE-Euro 7.55 Pct
    SE-Asian 1.39 Pct
    Siberian 1.6 Pct
    NE-Asian 2.14 Pct
    Papuan 0.6 Pct
    American 0.7 Pct
    Beringian 0.66 Pct
    Mediterranean 0.77 Pct
    SW-Asian 2.44 Pct

My Baloch and SI components are similar to hers except I have higher Caucasian and NE-Euro and she has the difference spread out over W-African, SW-Asian, Med, Beringian components.

Did she originally test with 23andMe? Some of my DNA relatives with elevated MENA ancestry (10%+) end up with some Ethiopian/Eritrean ancestry on 23andMe.

Let me know if her father or brother test. I maintain a table of Syed Shia Y-DNAs for the community.

I don't think it is a coincidence that the Tarkhan caste is engaged in carpentry/smithy etc.

Perhaps on uniparentals. For the Indian subcontinent there is hardly much autosomal effect for a couple of reasons at least - massive local population and hardly any group staying "pure." The Mughals themeselves were quite "Persianized" and perhaps also "Indianized*" prior to entering India (the Indus).

    *Cf. the Caraonas -
"Nigudar Aghul, or Oghlan, son of (the younger) Juji, son of _Chaghatai_, was the leader of the Chaghataian contingent in Hulaku's expedition, and was still attached to the Mongol-Persian army in 1269"
Interesting what Marco Polo tells about Nigudar:
"In this plain there are a number of villages and towns which have lofty walls of mud, made as a defence against the banditti,[NOTE 3] who are very numerous, and are called CARAONAS. This name is given them because they are the sons of Indian mothers by Tartar fathers. ... The King of these scoundrels is called NOGODAR. This Nogodar had gone to the Court of Chagatai, who was own brother to the Great Kaan, with some 10,000 horsemen of his, and abode with him; for Chagatai was his uncle."

Thanks for your detailed post. Her original DNA test was with MyHeritage. I am trying to convince her father and brother to do a DNA test, would love to know her Ydna halogroup. Highly appreciate your detailed post and assistance

    Hello

I thought users here would maybe know why Gujar_Pakistan and Gujar_India differ so much on the g25 in terms of distance to neighboring populations and autosomal make up. AFAIK Gujar_Pakistan are related to the ancient Swat types no? Is there a mislabeling here and are these two group averages of different ethnicities all together?

Another pertinent question one ought to is, if these Gujar_India samples are from the J&K or the rest of India(Haryana/UP/Delhi/Rajasthan)?

Indeed, although I think a little bit of searching on the forum may bring it to light. I'll probably do that later. It seems the confusion for me at least arose from the difference in modern distances between the two Gujar sets but when I run them through ancient models they seem very similar except for Gujar_India having more "AASI". Maybe its possible that the Gujar_India set derive from a Gujar_Pakistan type population before admixing with high "AASI" groups. However I don't know anything about said ethnic groups and that's just a stab in the dark - based off of moderns it seems odd that the Pakistan set seems so very "Swat" like while the Indian set seems quite different. A little googling just told me that the Gujar ethnic group is nomadic, but are they of the same actual ethnic group across borders?
