This SA ancestry trace backs to traders from coastal areas? I wonder if some Mauritians migrated there as well.

It's a news for me that Coloured people from south africa are heavily South Asian mixed, probably the migration is not well documented?
Lol sorry yeah that's what I meant. I too used to think that they weren't as South Asian shifted, until I met a few and without going too deep into phenotype, thought they had to have more. A coloured friend of mine claimed she had photographic evidence of South Asian ancestors who she believed to be Punjabi. I saw a girl on reddit recently who was 98% South Asian 2% African, not sure what she identified as though. More recent studies show higher South Asian admixture than the older studies, like this one:

Patterns of African and Asian admixture in the Afrikaner population of South Africa

Compared to the Afrikaners, the Coloured populations have more diverse origins. At K = 6, the Cape Coloured population from Wellington (within the region of the original Cape colony) had the following ancestry fractions: 30.1% Khoe-San, 24% European, 10.5% East Asian, 19.7% South Asian, 15.6% West/East African and 0.2% Native American (Fig. 1). The Coloured populations whom today are living further from the original Cape colony had different admixture patterns with less Asian and more Khoe-San contribution than the Cape Coloured: Colesberg Coloured (48.6% Khoe-San, 20% European, 2.9% East Asian, 6.7% South Asian, 21.6% West/East African, 0.2% Native American) and Askham Coloured (76.9% Khoe-San, 11.1% European, 0.9% East Asian, 3.9% South Asian, 7.2% West/East African, 0% Native American).
The non-cape Coloured's as you can see have less South Asian, but I believe the majority of coloureds in South Africa are from capetown and thus part of the 20% South Asian average. Pretty interesting right?

No, the Indian community in South Africa is big. Even Afrikaners have 1-2% Indian ancestry usually.

I won't be surprised about the Punjabi part. I am aware of my community "Ramgarhia" in Kenya/Uganda who were brought there during 1900s as railroad workers. Maybe some migrated to South Africa.

I'm aware Indian community being big there, but always thought they were post independence migrants. Wasn't aware they go back more than 100 years. But then again Gandhi was there during his youth too.

Yeah, most go back to the 19th century to early 20th century. Post-1947 migrants are a minority.

There were Marathas all over the north.
And yes, prior to the 1857 war they were near universally despised in the north. The Rajputs, the Bangalis, all have tales of Maratha depredations, especially due to the rampant destruction by the Pindaris.
The Babhans of Bihar faught many battles against the Marathas. The Marathas under Raghuji Bhonsle attacked and plundered Bihar and Bangal. But nevertheless, Maratha Chitpavans who settled in Bihar were adopted into the Babhan caste as Chitponia Babhans and became an integral part of the Babhans.
